United Meat & Deli (UMD) was incorporated in 1982. The name “United” is derived from the unification of two previous packing concerns.  UMD’s purpose was twofold: the manufacture/production of corned beef, and the distribution of meat and deli products to the local food service industry.  UMD was located in the Eastern Market section of Detroit until 1993, when it moved to its present, larger facility on Hubbard.
